  In the basic WordPress.com version can I have have a secure area for members only? I am trying to present which one we should use for an educational society.

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  The only option for making a members only site on WordPress.com is to set your site to private.
  https://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/

  Will that work for you?

  If not, a self-hosted WordPress site would give you significantly more options for creating members only space on your site.

  Thank you. I am checking out what is best for a site that has membership needs that we don’t want public. Think I will go with WordPress.org and Blue Host.
