  Can a site hosted on wordpress.com whether free or not be equipped with member registration and the ability to grant members access to members only content?

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  Thanks heliodore. Actually I know that can make the site private. What I want is not that.
  I want for SOME of the content to be available only to members, and for them to be able to register and be approved for access to a Members Only Area

  Thanks! Yes that sounds somewhat more like it. I was hoping for individual member registrations with personal profiles, though. What about that?

  It is a common request, but unfortunately not an option yet.
