members only plug in

    Dear All,

Can I use the “members only” plug in, if I don’t have installed anything on my computer regarding the worldpress blog. If yes, how can I do this.
I only use it from the browser directly and also from different computers.

    Thank you in advance.
    Kind regards,
    Stefan

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hello!

Unfortunately, for security reasons WordPress.COM does not allow any third-party plugins. However, WordPress.ORG does allow for plugins. Though, if you wanted to do WordPress.ORG it would require either self-hosting or working with a company (GoDaddy) that uses the software.
    See here for the difference:

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

So how do you create a members site with wordpress.com???

You are not advised to attempt it. It is possible, although not elegant, by this workaround:

Create one site to be the “public face” of your members site. Put a contact form on it. Once you’ve received the contact form from someone who wants to join, make them a USER of a separate, private blog. That is your member site.

That sounds painful. I will look into WordPress . Org. Do u know if WordPress . Com has templates that have members function. Thanks for the reply
