I would like to start a new website with a custom domain name. I would like this site to have membership access only through paid subscriptions for a digital style magazine. Does WordPress offer the ability to do this? Also, is it possible to migrate the content of my current blog unzipped to the new site in some type of archive? Once my domain expires in November for unzipped, what happens to the content; does it disappear?

The short answer to your first question is: No. The short answer to your second question is: Yes. The short answer to your third question is: Nothing.
Now the long answers:
1) You could make a private site and charge for admission, but it’s hell publicizing a private site. If you really want to, though, you can do that here. Just create a private site and only Invite people who’ve already paid you. With a WP.org blog rather than WP.com you have multiple solutions to this which are more elegant.
2) On the Dashboard Tools page you can create an Export file for your content. Then on the new site’s dashboard, go to the Tools page and click Import. Check to see that everything, including the images came over.
3) When a custom domain expires, the content remains the same; it’s just at the old whatever.wordpress.com URL instead of the custom domain.

Ugh, that sucks. I’m still here as I’m waiting for an editor to get back to me, and looking for rainbows. There’s got to be one, given the weather.
