Membership with custom post system plugins?

So I’ve been asked by a friend to create a job posting site that people can sign up to and post their jobs that need doing on the cheap. I’ve been looking around but honestly it’s a long road to find the right plugins for membership and then integrate them into custom post forms.
I was wondering if anyone had any ideas and what plugins they’d recommend. He just wants registrants to have the ability to create a job posting with nothing more. Any amendments to their addresses and other details can be sorted out later, but if there’s a plug-in that accommodates this from the get go then that’d be great.
This is purely a feasibility study for this site to see if it’s possible without incurring him much of a cost if any at all.

There is no FTP access and we bloggers cannot install any plugins into free hosted WordPress.com blogs.

That is not going to be possible on WordPress.com at all. As for the answers on WordPress.ORG, you’d have to go over there and ask. It will be possible. It will not be simple unless he hires someone to do it for him. Plugins like that tend to be fiddly.
