Mentioning other bloggers in a blog

Hi all im pretty new to wordpress and still figuring it out so apologies if i’m posting something already on here. Im writing a post and noticed others on their blogs add links to to other peoples pages appearing as just that persons highlighted name and not as a URL. i have no idea what this is called so dont know how to search for a how to guide. My blog looks so cluttered with url links in the post, would anyone be kind enough to explain please?

This is the general link model:
<a href="URL HERE">Highlighted anchor text here</a>To make an anchor text link like this one smilesalot1969 you type this first smilesalot1969 and then you highlight it with your mouse, click the chain (link) icon in your editor and enter the URL and the smilesalot1969.wordpress.com title and click insert.

If you want to locate any threads you create here in the forums or any comments you make in them you can do that by either (1) clicking Welcome smilesalot1969 on the top right hand corner of any forum page or (2) by clicking the member link under your username in a forum thread.
