The button to access the menu editor button has disappeared and I can’t add a new page to the menu. How do I fix that?

    Hi there!

You’re using a theme that supports the Full Site Editor, which gives you greater flexibility for editing how the theme works on your site. For themes with the Full Site Editing feature, the menu works a little differently. Please check out the following page:

Your menu is the list of links that are typically displayed at the top of your site. A menu makes it easy for your visitors to find their way around your site’s pages and other content. Our guides will show you how to create and manage your site’s menu. An example of a menu Create a Menu When you start a new site, a menu is created for you automatically. Ho

Since you’re starting a new site, I’d like to take this opportunity to learn more about the site you’re creating with us. Would you mind telling us more about your new site? What’s the site for, and what features do you need on the site? Based on your site requirements, we’ll be happy to share specific guides and suggestions and help you accordingly.

    Thanks!

I’m an author and I wanted to set up a site where people could read about me, find bios on my books, and stay updated on what’s going on. I originally had a menu that worked and had four pages on it, but then when I came back a while later, I created a new page and couldn’t find the menu editor button again.

I have a home page, a page about my backstory, a bio on my first book, a contact page, and I was creating a shop page, but the shop page was the one I couldn’t add to the menu.

    Good Morning –

Thank you for those details. Congrats on this new project, too! It’s always a joy to help folks get their work online, and even help them make some money in the process.

The theme that you are using doesn’t use a traditional menu like what you may have experienced in the past. Instead, your site is set up with a navigation block. Go ahead and see that here:

    https://mialjohnson.wordpress.com/wp-admin/site-editor.php?postType=wp_navigation&postId=79

It can be helpful to bookmark different parts of the interface so you can access them easily in the future.

When looking at that navigation link, I can see you have “shop” included there. I do not see it on the front page of the site yet. That’s happening because the original shop page that was created is now in the trash. The link doesn’t work anymore. See here: https://mialjohnson.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.php?post_status=trash&post_type=page

I would suggest removing that page from the trash and things will work again as expected. Then we can talk more about what goals you have for this project. We will be happy to help outline a roadmap for your project and help you find success here.

I am going to suggest reviewing this page which goes over the different options for collecting payments on your site. There’s a nifty video too. Write back to me here with thoughts/questions/concern.
