  When I click on my menu items, the click is not taking me directly to the corresponding page.

  When I click on them I get a ” in the titles of the Pages that prevents connection.

  Make sure you remove any special characters. Use only the actual Page titles and URLs. https://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/view-all/#adding-pages
