Menu and image display problems since switching to the traveler theme
-
Hi, I have just upgraded my blog http://www.anenchantedeye.com (www.thedailypostdotme.wordpress.com) to a premium theme: traveler. It looks great but I now have two problems associated with it:
1. The example under the templates listing showed photos on the home page but mine isn’t showing my images. Nor is it if I choose a category page from the menu. It’s kind of important for me for people to see the images as it’s a photography site but I can’t seem to work out why they’re not showing. Any ideas?
2. Since switching themes I now have two menus on the site – my original one which is at the top of the page plus another ‘Categories’ menu below the header. It is confusing having two. How do I get rid of the lower one?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Eleanor

Hi there,
The example under the templates listing showed photos on the home page but mine isn’t showing my images
These tumbnails are controlled by a feature we call “Featured Images” and you can learn how to add a featured image thumbnail to each of your posts here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/featured-images/#setting-a-featured-image
That will populate the home page as well as category pages on your theme
Since switching themes I now have two menus on the site
No problem. On Traveler, the lower menu is always set to display categories and will display the top 8 categories, sorted by the number of posts in each category. You can hide this using the following line of custom css.
.cat-details { display: none; }To use the above code, click on your site name on the admin menu at the top left, and in the drop-down, select “Customize” to launch the site customizer.
From there, click on the “CSS” tab, and paste in the code I provided.
Please note that this will be shown in preview mode, but you will have a link to purchase the Custom Design upgrade, which is necessary to use custom CSS on your site.
The Custom Design upgrade allows you to use a wider range of fonts, tweak theme colors, and even add custom CSS. You can learn more about it here:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/
Hope that helps. Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Thank you very much for your help! I’ve now got pictures on my front page. I can’t find the Custom CSS button though – I’m wondering if it’s because it’s not an Automatic theme. But I’ll stick with the two menus for now and see if it causes any confusion.

Hi there,
Perhaps this will help?
Just a note that you will not be able to save your changes unless you have the Custom Design upgrade active on your site.
Hope that helps. Please let me know if you have any further questions.
