Menu and Page conflict?

  I have two blogs under one account, one in French and one in English, in the Twenty-Ten Theme. I am trying to add a custom menu with a custom link to the navigation bar in order that people can go back and forth from either blog. Previously, I had posted a PAGE that appeared in the navigation bar entitled “about us”. When I publish the custom menu/link the PAGE “about us” goes away. I realize that Twenty-Ten only supports one custom menu but why is my PAGE going away. Also, the example in the “how to create a custom menu” instructions there is a Twenty-Ten theme and it has lots of PAGES across its NAV bar. What am I doing wrong?
