Menu and sub-menu management for mobile
-
Hello
I need a menu with submenus, and I have 2 requests.
1st request:
Is it possible to make my menu so that “Idées d’expériences” and “Idées destinations” are not links but just a text menu category?2nd request:
The problem: When my site is opened on mobile, all the sub-menus are directly deployed, which makes a huge menu on mobile (which is very ugly, the best would be to be able to click on the category “Idées d’expériences” or “Idées destinations” and deploy the sub-menus on demand).
It seems that this is not easy without CSS control (tell me if I’m wrong), but are there any free themes with this possibility? (I tried a search for functionality in themes but without success, not sure how to search). Thanks in advance for your answers

Hi there,
Apologies, but we can’t help with your issue directly because we don’t host your site on our WordPress.com managed hosting.
To explain, we are a fully managed hosting provider and use a custom server environment that is optimized for WordPress, provides built-in security and performance improvements, as well as in-house support for your site questions.
Because of the way we’ve optimized our service, we also use a customized version of WordPress that is different (under the hood) from what you use at your current provider. As a result, we do not have access to your site and are not familiar with the source of your issue.
You definitely have the option to move your site to us so we can provide in-house help, using our migration plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/wpcom-migration/ and the site would need to be on the business plan.
As it stands now, we cannot help since it is hosted elsewhere. The good news is that help is available here at the open-source WordPress forums: https://wordpress.org/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting
The folks in that forum are more familiar with these kinds of issues and are in the best position to help. Thanks!

Hello
You must be mistaken, because my site is a wordpress.com site with a personal plan : ecoscien.wordpress.com

Hello there, and sorry about the confusion.
Is it possible to make my menu so that “Idées d’expériences” and “Idées destinations” are not links but just a text menu category?
Yep, you could add them by choosing a custom link from Appearance > Menus. When you add the custom links item, you can put a “#” symbol in the link field. Example:

You can also do this from the Customizer:
https://wordpress.com/support/menus/add-links-to-a-menu/#add-menu-items-in-the-customizerWhen my site is opened on mobile, all the sub-menus are directly deployed, which makes a huge menu on mobile (which is very ugly, the best would be to be able to click on the category “Idées d’expériences” or “Idées destinations” and deploy the sub-menus on demand).
It seems that this is not easy without CSS control (tell me if I’m wrong), but are there any free themes with this possibility? (I tried a search for functionality in themes but without success, not sure how to search).I took a look at your menu. From a user experience perspective, showing all the menu items on mobile is common once the button is clicked. At least with a menu of this size. It simplifies the process for users to navigate your site.
If you prefer something like you have described above, that would require CSS, and getting help from somewhere like Codeable, as it would be outside our scope of CSS support.
https://wordpress.com/support/css-support/Adding custom CSS would require either a Premium, a Business, or a Commerce Plan.
Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions, and have a great day!
