  The menu is set to the ‘mobile view’ icon only on the computer view. How can it be the more traditional exposed pages view on the computer and drop down menu for the phone mode?

  Hi there,
  By default the Hew theme has a hidden menu on all devices (mobile and desktop) and does not have a “classic menu” option: https://wordpress.com/theme/hew

  Instead you will want to switch to one of the following themes here, which include a classic menu appearance on laptop/desktop: https://wordpress.com/themes/filter/classic-menu

  Thank you for the links. But I had the classic menu before with my current theme, but I can’t get it back. How do you suggest I get this back? Do I have to reinstall a new theme?

  You can get back to the Hew theme by visiting this direct link and then click on the button that says “Activate and save”

  Also I noticed that you are correct the Hew theme does display a menu, as long as you have one set here https://wordpress.com/customize/ under the “Menus” tab.

  Since you have a menu set at the moment, one will show under the Hew theme.
