Menu: I want only the dropdown to show (not the top page in menu bar).
-
In my menu bar, I have a mixture of categories and pages.
How can I fix it so the top page in the menu bar does not refer to a page in itself, but when clicking that, only the dropdown (with clickable pages or categories) is available.
Example on my blog:
In the menu bar on top, there is an item ‘restaurants and shops’.
The dropdown shops 6 items, which is good.
However, ‘restaurants and shops’ is also clickable in itself and refers to a page. I don’t want this (I’ve added some content to this page, so it is not blank, but I would rather this page just isn’t there).
I only want the 6 items in the dropdown to be clickable.I’ve experimented with parent page/child page, but didn’t find it.
any help appreciated. Thanks

Hi there. You can do this with a custom menu. About halfway down in this tutorial (https://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2011/12/19/custom-menus/), see the heading “c. Submenu with non-linking top level tab”. On my site (just click my username) the Books I’ve Read menu item was made with this method.
If that’s not what you’re looking for, I see someone has tagged this for staff, so then just wait for their response.

thank you!, yes, how I see it on your blog is what I am looking for!
I’ll look into the link you gave me. Hope it will work -
If you don’t already have a custom menu, you’ll need to create one to replace your current menu. The tutorial I linked gives complete instructions on doing that as well.
Let me know if you need any more help.
