menu item limit on wordpress.com twenty-ten
-
My menu is starting to get buggy. I have 499 menu items. I am using twenty-ten. Is there a limit. Please note, be kind, I am a coplete n00b. I have searched my best in regards to this question and all I have found on the web is editing .php. A friend, who is not a n00b, says this has to do with wordpress.org. Help!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Yes, there is a limit to the number of items one can have in a menu. It’s not a WordPress.org issue. It’s just a navigational issue.
I do not honestly know the solution for you. I never, ever recommend a structure like that in the first place. Now all you can do if you want to make it less buggy is to copy and paste all those pages into blog posts instead, and use Categories instead of Parent Pages.
You may actually consider starting a new blog, if you want to stick with your existing format. Then you could have another 499 menu items.

Thank you raincoaster,
I wounder if there’s another way to go about it. I wounder if I could create “books,” in pages/sub-pages and within those “books” I could create posts to eliminate the sub-sub-sub pages … etc. By having a menu page listing what found in those sub-sub-sub pages and then letting the viewer click to whatever page he/she wishes to view what’s found in those deeper pages which will become, as you suggest, posts.
The other thing is, is it possible to make posts invisible?
The idea would looks like this on the screen
SERIES 1 SERIES 2
BOOK 1
(all chapter links of Book 1)
BOOK 2
(list of chapters of Book 2, links)
CHAPTER 1
(list of sub-chapters of chapter 1, links)*
CHAPTER 2*these links would lead to posts which would otherwise be invisible
I might have to find the right theme. Any recommendations? Willing to redo the entire website but not make another one of another 499 menu items.
