    Hi,

What is the address of your site that has the Canape theme applied?

On this exemple page : https://canapedemo.wordpress.com/item/PORK-RILLETTES/ on chrome and firefox, the page is center not on 100% width with 1 column.

I see what you mean, but WordPress.com and the theme author(s) might not consider this a bug since the menu item pages evidently aren’t meant to be seen by visitors. They aren’t linked to in the menu, and consequently it’s unlikely that a visitor will find them. On the Menu page, each menu item is centered at all browser window widths on my desktop screen.

However, if you think this may be a bug, I’d suggest that you add a “modlook” tag to the side bar at right here, to call for staff attention.

Also, in the feature pages “Hors d’œuvre,” “Mains,” and “Desserts” the menu items are centered at all browser widths in my tests.

In te menu page, each item is centered, ok, But if you add a balise “read more” in menu item, exemple on dessert, apple galettt, you can acced via this link : https://canapedemo.wordpress.com/item/apple-galette/
And this page is centered and not on width 100% in firefox and chrome browser…..

As I explained above the item pages such as the examples you’ve provided:
    https://canapedemo.wordpress.com/item/apple-galette/
    https://canapedemo.wordpress.com/item/PORK-RILLETTES/
aren’t linked to in the menu, and consequently the typical visitor to the site won’t see them. Perhaps I’m misunderstanding you, so I’ll call for staff attention. Staff will respond here, though it might not be until Monday or Tuesday next week.

  • Hi there,

Your site is not on WordPress.com, so you are not using our version of the Canape theme.

I see you’ve already posted in the self-hosted forums, here:

    https://wordpress.org/support/topic/menu-item-page-center/

Please wait for a reply there, but I don’t see what you mean at any of those links. Those pages both look like they’re supposed to look in this theme.

    @kokkieh,

Hey! I wasn’t sure what was being referred to either, but I guessed that @tendrefleur meant the description of the items in those pages. In both examples (in the demo), the item descriptions are off-center when viewed on my PC screen, because the date shares one or more of the lines that the description falls on.

  • Unknown's avatar

If i well understund that you explain @musicdoc1 it is that :-)
in my exemple page : https://canapedemo.wordpress.com/item/PORK-RILLETTES/

    Hors d’œuvre
A French phrase meaning out of the work, used to mean food served as an appetizer before a meal.

on the top, description is well on 100% width but

    Pork Rillettes
November 10, 2015 with quick pickle of dried apricots

is center on half page on firefox and chrome but work on safati browser on pc

  • Thanks for the clarification, and I see now what you mean. I’ve reported it to our theme developers so they can take a look.

    @kokkieh,

Do you see also that, as I explained above, each menu item is centered, at all browser window widths, in the Menu page, and in the feature pages “Hors d’œuvre,” “Mains,” and “Desserts“.

And do you understand that those item pages, where the descriptions aren’t centered, are not likely to be found by a visitor, because
    a. There are no links to them in the menu.
    b. The items are each child pages of a page with the slug “item” that is not published.

I would never have found them had @tendrefleur not provided the link to the “Pork Rillettes” page.

Essentially they are hidden pages, to be seen by the administrator only.

  • Unknown's avatar

That should be “by Administrators, and (if applicable) Editors and Authors only.”

  • Essentially they are hidden pages, to be seen by the administrator only.

That is incorrect. The single-item pages can be linked to directly and anyone with the link can access it, not just admins, editors and authors. The fact that it doesn’t by default appear in the menu doesn’t mean it cannot be added to the menu, or that it cannot be shared in a hyperlink, either on the site itself or externally.

And there is an inconsistency in how the page is displayed between browsers.

  • Unknown's avatar

Yes, but I meant that they are hidden in the demo. A user may display them, of course, but I wondered if @tendrefleur understood that they need not be displayed, since the content of them is displayed, and perfectly centered, at those locations that I mentioned, the menu page and the featured pages.

  • Unknown's avatar

    Correction:

    they need not be displayed

I mean they need not be linked to, since they serve their function (on the menu and featured pages) without being linked to. They will be displayed if published, but who will ever find them if they are not linked to?

  • Unknown's avatar

And there is an inconsistency in how the page is displayed between browsers.

Yes Kokkieh, it’s that, you understund, Thanks.
And it’s a problem for me, because a want display that page with a link “read more” in menu for add more element in my menu on this page, and with this “bug” is not good at this time for me for display this page… :-(
(Sorry for my explanations but i’m french and is not simple for me to explain this “bug” and what i want to do… Thanks all)

    Some news…?
    Thanks

  • Bug fixes are prioritised by how severe they are and how many sites they affect, and I cannot tell you exactly when this one will be fixed. When it is, we will let you know.

    @tendrefleur,

And it’s a problem for me, because a want display that page with a link “read more” in menu for add more element in my menu on this page

The Menu page displays the content of each Menu Item page. So, in order to display a “read more” link there, you’d have to include the “read more” link in the Menu Item page itself. Two following two issues would arise:

    1. The full content of the Menu Item page would display on the Menu page (as well as in corresponding the Menu Section page) unless you find a way to hide some of the content at those two locations. If possible, this would require CSS customization.

    2. On the Menu Item page, the “read more” link would link to the Menu Item page itself. Hiding the link would require CSS customization.

  • Just wanted to let you know this has been fixed now on the WordPress.com version of the theme. The self-hosted version of the theme should also be updated soon.
