Menu Items Stuck in “Pending” Status – Resolved

    Hi everyone,

I recently encountered a frustrating issue while building my WordPress site. When creating and adding menu items, they would get stuck in a “Pending” status, and wouldn’t appear on the live site. I tried various troubleshooting steps, but nothing seemed to resolve the problem.

    Initial Troubleshooting Steps I Tried:

    • Saving Permalinks: I went to Settings > Permalinks and re-saved my permalink structure.
    • Deactivating Plugins: I temporarily deactivated all my plugins to see if there was a conflict.
    • Switching Themes: I switched to a default WordPress theme to rule out any theme-related issues.
    • Checking for WordPress Updates: I ensured my WordPress installation, theme, and plugins were all up to date.
    • Checking the WordPress error logs: I checked the error logs to see if there were any errors showing up.

Despite these efforts, the menu items remained stuck in “Pending.”

    Solution:

The issue was resolved by clearing my browser’s cache. It seems the browser was holding onto outdated data, preventing the menu changes from displaying correctly.

To prevent this issue in the future, here are instructions for clearing your browser cache:

    Google Chrome:

    1. Open Chrome.
    2. Click the three vertical dots (More) in the top right corner.
    3. Select “More tools” > “Clear browsing data.”
    4. In the “Time range” dropdown, select “All time.”
    5. Check the boxes for “Cookies and other site data” and “Cached images and files.”
    6. Click “Clear data.”

    Mozilla Firefox:

    1. Open Firefox.
    2. Click the three horizontal lines (Menu) in the top right corner.
    3. Select “Settings.”
    4. Click “Privacy & Security” in the left sidebar.
    5. In the “Cookies and Site Data” section, click “Clear Data.”
    6. Check the boxes for “Cookies and Site Data” and “Cached Web Content.”
    7. Click “Clear.”

    Safari (macOS):

    1. Open Safari.
    2. Click “Safari” in the menu bar and select “Preferences.”
    3. Go to the “Advanced” tab.
    4. Check the “Show Develop menu in menu bar” box.
    5. Click “Develop” in the menu bar and select “Empty Caches.”

    Microsoft Edge:

    1. Open Edge.
    2. Click the three horizontal dots (Settings and more) in the top right corner.
    3. Select “Settings.”
    4. Click “Privacy, search, and services” in the left sidebar.
    5. Under “Clear browsing data,” click “Choose what to clear.”
    6. In the “Time range” dropdown, select “All time.”
    7. Check the boxes for “Cookies and other site data” and “Cached images and files.”
    8. Click “Clear now.”

I hope this helps anyone facing a similar issue!
