  I am attempting to set my menu as per wordpress instructions:
  http://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/

  I would like to have my home page, about page and several additional pages appear in the menu area.
  I would like the additional pages to be direct links. When clicked upon these should take the viewer to external pages that belong to me. I have followed the instructions perfectly as they are listed in your help page. I am getting one of two outcomes:
  1) If I added the additional pages as “add page,” the page appears but it does not take me to an external link.
  2) If I add it as a custom link under the menu page it appears to work but does NOT show up in the menu?

  Please advise me with specific instructions to this problem. Please do NOT send me a link to a help page on your website that I have already viewed. Something is not working properly. Please advise me on how to fix it or correct the issue on your end. Thank you

  The part that most miss is that you have to select the menu you created and saved in the primary pulldown in the theme locations module at upper left on the custom menu page.
