Menu Not Showing New Pages – Twenty-Eleven Theme

I maintain the site at https://classicsvic.wordpress.com/. It’s on the Twenty Eleven theme. I’ve added a new page complete with parent designated and page order nominated but the page isn’t appearing in the drop-down from the main menu. The new page is at https://classicsvic.wordpress.com/iris/iris-volume-31-2018/ but you’ll see the menu under the main menu heading ‘Iris’ starts with volume 30; 31 should appear first but doesn’t appear.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi,

Is it a custom menu or a default pages menu?

By “default pages menu” I refer to the menu that displays by default in the header area on some themes, including Twenty Eleven, when no custom menu has been assigned to display instead.

    Hi.

Yes, it’s the primary menu in the default header area. The drop-down sub-menus are controlled by the page attributes/parent/order panel. I’ve added the new page in the page attributes panel but it doesn’t show in the drop-down from the primary menu. I experimented by deleting other pages from the page attributes panel but they remained n the live menu, so it’s not responding to any changes.

    Thanks,

    Andrew.

    Andrew,

Yes, it’s the primary menu in the default header area.
That’s not what I asked. I’m a volunteer, so I don’t have access to your administrative areas. It’s important to know whether it’s a default menu that only displays pages, or a custom menu that you may add and remove items from at Customize > Menus. I presume that it’s a custom menu, because the default pages menu would display links to all published pages.

If it’s a custom menu, then it will only automatically display new menu items if the box labeled “Automatically add new top-level pages to this menu” is checked at Customize > Menus > Primary > Menu Options. Otherwise you must add each item manually, as described in the Add Menu Items section of the Site Menus support page.

You may move items that have been added as top-level items, either automatically or manually, under other items in a custom menu, but this isn’t done in the page attributes panel. Instead, see the Reorder Menu Items section of the Site Menus support page for relevant instructions.

Thank-you thank-you thank-you!!! I checked ‘Automatically add new …’ Then on the Menus page under ‘Add menu items’ I selected the new page, ‘added’ it and then dragged it into position. I’ve not needed to do that before but I do know that a few months ago there were some global changes made that affected the primary menu area, so maybe something was turned off.

Thanks so much again for your prompt and accurate assistance!

    Andrew.
