Menu obscuring part of page
-
Hi, I think I know the answer to this, but thought I’d ask anyway. I am using the free plan with the Gateway theme.
I have a large menu with 21 items. This makes the menu so large that when you scroll down the page, the menu blocks most of the page.
Is there anything I can do about that?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Ignore the last line, the website I need help with is https://wordpress.com/view/manyvoicesfromone2016.wordpress.com
Also, this does not happen when using an iPad, only with desktop or laptop.
Thanks,
Angie

Hello Angie,
there are few ways to fix this. First of all, you could add sub-menus so that they drop-down and occupy less space. You can read more on how to customise your menu here:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/
Maybe it is not the best solution with your type of content. So another thing you can do is to add all those as blog posts instead of pages and in that way reduce the menu.
Lastly, I would recommend you to find another theme that suits your needs but has a drop-down menu, for example Eigthies
Hope that helps :)

Hey aknowles13,
You have added many items to the menu. All the items are added to the parent items.
It would be great if you just add a few items below others. Those are called the sub-menu items.
Just go to Themes>>Customize>>Menus>>Primary Menu and you will see all the items you have added. Just drag and drop one below the other.
Please have a look. https://prnt.sc/ir5xk2

Thanks ravichahar but each menu item is a different artist page, so I can’t nest them. I tried using posts instead, but then you would need to scroll through the posts to get to a particular artist.
But still thinking about that. May be able to set up a sidebar widget to list the artist.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I ended up adding a pages widget to the home page and eliminating the menu.
