Menu pages disappearing when I changed theme

When i changed the theme on my blog one of my menus on the top bar is no longer visible. It still shows up in the menu structure in the menu admin section but it is not visible on the page. The page is called my shop and i had it linked to an external site to redirect people to my online store. I’m new to wordpress and am still trying to figure it all out. Help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

  • If you go to the Appearance ->Menu page on the dashboard, does the blue button say “Create Menu” or “Save Menu”? If it says “Create”, the menu structure you see there is not yet posted on the site. Order your pages the way you want it, then click the blue button.

The blue button says “save menu” no matter how many times i save it nothing changes. Would it be because the page is a link to an external site? Do all themes support that type of page…i just guessed that they do. Thanks for the response!

  • As far as I can tell your theme supports custom menus. Perhaps it’s not selected. Under the menu structure you’ll find the menu settings. Make sure the box next to Primary Menu is ticked and save again. Or at the top you can click on the tab “Manage Locations”. Make sure that your custom menu (default title is “Menu 1”) is selected in the drop down menu.

If none of that works you can try deleting the custom menu and creating a new one. Or only delete that link and create it again from scratch.

The primary menu box wasn’t ticked! It’s working now, thank you so much!!

  • Hooray! Glad I could help. Happy blogging.
