Menu Sub Item Custom Links
-
In my menu, I have a page called Discover. Under Discover, I have 5 sub items that are custom links that send you to a specific part of the Discover page when you click on them. For example, I have a title on my Discover page called Your First Visit. Your First Visit is 1 of the 5 sub items on my menu under Discover. When I am on the Discover page while visiting my site, I can click the sub item that shows up under the Discover tab, and it will scroll down on the page until it reaches the Your First Visit title. That is what I want, but if I am not on the Discover page, let’s same I’m on the Home page or another page on my site, and I click the Your First Visit sub item under the Discover tab, it will not take me there. It does nothing. I can only get to Your First Visit if I’m already on the Discover page. Is there a way to make it so I can click and get there from any page I’m on??

Hey there,
Please review the following documentation on setting up a Page Jump that redirects viewers to a specific section on a different page.
Let us know if you have any other questions or require any further clarification.

In WordPress, if you edit a section, there’s an area to enter the ID. I entered one, for example, “essentials”. I go to Appearance, Menu and under the sub item with the custom link, I put http://www.example.com/discover/#essentials. Is that a right way of doing it? It scrolls to my Essentials title fine, but from anywhere else on my site, if I click that sub item on the drop down menu, it takes me to the Home page, which is not what’s supposed to happen.

Yes, to the best of my knowledge that is how it should be set up in order for the page jump link to appropriately work.
Could you please provide the URL for the website in question?

Hmm interesting, it looks as though everything is entered in correctly but I do see the error – it seems as though the page jump link just wanted to add the ID of the page to the end of the URL of the current page.
As a suggestion perhaps attempt to delete the page jumps links altogether and then add them back your menu and see if the error persists.
Otherwise, this website is a self-hosted WordPress.org site rather than WordPress.com.
This forum is designed to help clients hosted by WordPress.com. For more information on the difference between the two please check out this link: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org.
If my suggestions doesn’t resolve the issue, you may be able to find an answer on the WordPress.org support page at the link provided: https://wordpress.org/support/ or as an alternative you may want to contact your hosting provider.
Hopefully this helps!
Cheers
