Menu subcategory menus not editable anymore??

  I have setup some menus on my site and the sub menus pull thro information from either categories / tags / custom links etc. I was able to build this under My Sites (top left) > Personalise: Menus.
  The information to set this up use to arrive in the body of my page but recently that changed and I only have a limited version on the left hand bar with no options to link to specific pages / add categories / tags etc which would pull info thro to the various tabs.

  I hope I’ve explained this sufficiently.

  One thing i noticed was that the url had changed from:
  https://wordpress.com/menus/everydayiswritten.wordpress.com
  to
  https://wordpress.com/customize/menus/everydayiswritten.wordpress.com

  The word customize was added and I was on one occasion able to force to the original url and all the options were back. Now it won’t let me do that.

  So my main question…. how do I go about building my menus as per before, with the option of editing each sub menu to pull thro or hold certain information?
