Menu that shouldn’t be there

Hello, I’m having an issue that is driving me crazy and I would love any help. I have one page besides my home page, a gallery, and the menu wasn’t correct at the top, so I had created a menu only for that page. However, that did not solve the problem so I deleted the menu. It is no longer listed anywhere in my admin menu area so it should not exist. And yet, it is still showing up on my page. I cannot find how it is still there but when you go to the page, it’s there even though it doesn’t exist. I waited weeks and it’s still showing.

  • Hey there,

I checked your site busybeestriping.com and it looks like it is not hosted here on WordPress.com. Since the domain is pointed to Unified Layer, I am guessing the site is hosted there with WordPress.org open-source software.

This forum is only dedicated to WordPress.com sites.
If you’d like to know more about the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org, check the page linked below: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

For assistance with this issue, I recommend reaching out to your hosting provider directly. If you are interested in WordPress.com hosting, we would love to host your site here and would be happy to help transfer the site and troubleshoot this issue with you.

    Hope this helps!

Thank you for your response! This is weird because I thought Bluehost hosted us through WordPress. We did everything through WordPress. I don’t know what Unified Layer is :(

No problem at all! I apologize for any confusion caused. To clarify: Unified Layer is the parent organization that owns Bluehost.

Also, to clarify things, there are three versions of “WordPress” that you should know about:

    1. The free, open-source WordPress software that powers your website.
    2. WordPress.org, which is the open-source project responsible for developing the WordPress software. You can obtain the software for free and use it with your own hosting provider.
    3. WordPress.com, a managed hosting provider that uses the WordPress software. You are currently contacting us here on our forums.

When you set up your WordPress site with Bluehost, they automatically installed and configured the Jetpack plugin, which also created your WordPress.com account. This allows you to manage your site through the WordPress.com dashboard. However, your WordPress installation and files are located on Bluehost’s servers, and we cannot access them because Bluehost is a different hosting provider separate from WordPress.com.

Since we can only assist with websites hosted on WordPress.com, here’s the good news: since you are using the open-source version of WordPress (which operates differently from what we offer on WordPress.com), you can seek help from the community forums at:

    https://wordpress.org/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting/

The people in the open-source forum are more experienced with these matters and are in the best position to provide assistance.

I hope this information guides you in the right direction!
