menues & pages

Hello. I’m doing music reviews on the blog https://thenoisebeneaththesnow.wordpress.com/. When I do blogs, obviously they automatically just pop up on the main screen. However, what I want to do is this..I want to create links next to Contact and About pertaining to particular styles (i.e. Noise, Metal, Ambient etc.) and then I would like the posts to appear underneath each based upon the style of music. Does that make sense? Hope you can help.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello ,
You can create Custom Menus , where you can add more Menu options and create Sub Menus for them. You can keep them as Categories as you want them like Noise , Metal , Ambient , also keep in mind while creating a Post you have to select the category you want them to be in so they will appear in your desired Menu Category as well. To get some more information about Customizing your blog here is some information https://en.support.wordpress.com/customize/
Also here is some detailed information about Menus , https://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/
Also https://en.support.wordpress.com/category-pages/
That page explains how WordPress takes the categories you assign to your posts (Noise, Metal, Ambient, etc.) and builds a page for each one, automatically. It also shows you how to add those category pages to you menu :)
Once you’ve created your subcategories, and published posts under them, you can use My Site > Menus to add them to the menu.
Once you have added the sub categories, drag them up and down to reposition them. Put them below the category you want them listed under, then drag them to the right a little bit. If you indent them a little, they’ll become a submenu under the item just above :)
Hope this helps. Let us know if you need any further information. Would be happy to help. -
(Just structured the information so links are clickable :) )

Thanks for the help!
I think part of the problem is that I’m confusing menus with categories when it comes to getting this to do what I want. I just want to be able to put the styles of music up on the same line as Contact and About so that people can click and see posts based upon those styles.
Right now, there are only 2 “categories” that are available when I post a review, “Music Reviews” and “Uncategorized.”
At this point I’m not even sure if it’s a “category,” “menu” or “page” that I need to manipulate to make this happen. I’m getting tripped up on the terminology. I’ll check out your links though. Thanks for the help. -
Hello ,
So after hearing you out I have a suggestion, You can create a new Menu Item named ” Music Reviews “
There after you can then create subcategories within them as Noise , Metal , Ambient .
For this you need to firstly create Categories using https://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/categories/Then you can create Custom Menu using
https://en.support.wordpress.com/menus/In this you have to create Main Menu item as Music Review and submenu items as Metal, Ambient and select them as the Categories you have made. To make them as Sub Menus you just have to push reposition little to the right and they will be a sub menu items.
And then when you create a Post just make sure you select a category for the POST as say METAL .
The post will then appear in the Category Menu Page.
https://en.support.wordpress.com/category-pages/Hope its making sense. Let us know if you need any further help. We can then demonstrate it on a test website .
Let us know how it goes.
Regards
