Menus and Posts

So… I have a post that I moved underneath a menu. But I do not want it to appear on the main page. If I delete the post on the main page will it delete it from the menu page.

Additionally, when I add a page to the menu… It does not allow me to tag… so posts under a menu instead of a page is what Id prefer..

any thoughts on what I should do?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there. Blog posts by default appear on your home page (main feed) in reverse chronological order. There is no way to prevent a specific post from appearing on the main feed. If you added a post to a menu link and then delete the post from the main feed, it will disappear everywhere.

Additionally, when I add a page to the menu… It does not allow me to tag.

Static pages cannot be assigned categories or tags. Only posts can.

so posts under a menu instead of a page is what Id prefer..

To have your posts display under specific menu heading you have to create category pages. A category page will display all posts assigned to a specific category. Those posts will STILL appear on your main feed as well.

You’ll need to create a custom menu in order to use category pages. See these articles for comprehensive instructions:

To not have your main feed appear on the home page you’ll need to assign a static page as your home page. You cannot assign a category page as your home page. Instructions to do that here:
