menus hidden behind featured image

    I have created the menus but I find that they are hidden behind a featured image when I hover over the ‘Coursework’ menu. Is there any way to correct this? I’m using Canard theme. Thanks.

    Hi, Alison!

    Thanks for reaching out. I clicked on https://alison512480sp.wordpress.com/ and hovered over the “Coursework” menu, but was unable to see any featured image. Did you manage to solve the issue by yourself or do you still need us to further investigate?

    Kind regards,

    Hello, no it’s not resolved. I’ve refined the menus and it is still happening, the menu goes behind the featured image. Is there any way I can send you a screen shot? Theme is Canard by Automatic. link to blog: https://alison512480sp.wordpress.com/
    Many thanks.

    Sorry, I should have said this happens on the home page when you hover over Part 1 and Part 2 menu heading I hope this helps.

    Hello again,

    Thanks for replying. I now understand what the problem is. The reason why the featured image is displayed like that (above everything else) comes from the theme and it can be fixed by adding a custom CSS code. However, adding custom CSS codes is only available for Premium, Business or eCommerce plans. Since I don’t have access to your account, I don’t know if you’re on a paid plan or not, but since you have the .wordpress.com URL I can only assume you’re on the free plan.

    If you decide to upgrade, the code you will need to add is:

    .content-area .format-standard a.post-thumbnail {
        z-index: 0;
    }

    Otherwise, you could either try removing the featured image or try to see if you could move the menu items at the top of the homepage (under the red title) and have the sunflower image underneath?

    Hope this helps a little bit :)

    Hi there, To be on the safe side, I’ve gone ahead and flagged this issue for Staff attention as it is unlikely that this is the expected behavior. Thanks for your patience while they get back to you.

    Thank you for your help. I am on a free plan so can’t use the CSS code. I’m glad you’ve flagged this up, you are right, it is unexpected behavior. I have looked at different themes, and the issue is not replicated.
    Many thanks.

  • Hi there,

    Thank you for reporting this. This issue is a known bug that has been reported:

    https://github.com/Automattic/themes/issues/1829

    Unfortunately, until the developers can get a fix, the only workaround is through CSS via the Premium or above plan. Let me know if you are interested in the plan.

    I will add this report to Github in hopes that since this has been reported by several users, it can be a fix that increases in priority.

    Thanks,
