Menus when importing into a new site

Hello – This week I imported the contents of a site from an old account into my current account and I noticed that when I use the menu the pages point to the old site (which I have now deleted). I know I can change the menu quite easily but I was just wondering if this is something I can avoid when I create a menu.

    Any advice is welcome, thx.

  • Hi @nwillis15 ,

I know I can change the menu quite easily but I was just wondering if this is something I can avoid when I create a menu.

To clarify, are you having this trouble while you’re creating the new menu now? Or are you just hoping to create a menu that won’t have this problem if you export and import into another site?

Let us know and we’ll go from there. Thanks!

My trouble is with the menu as it was imported. I know I can recreate the menu to deal with this issue. I was just asking if there was something I could do when I created the original menu before the export that would stop this from happening. Originally I created the menu manually instead of using the feature that builds the menu from any live pages. (hope I got that bit right as well).

Thanks and do let me know if I’m not being clear.

  • If you’ve added those pages as custom links to the menu, then after the migration, the pages will still point to the old address.

The proper way is to add the page using the Add New Page option. Here’s the guide on how to do that:

Thank you fstat. I have had a look at the guide and it appears to be just the ticket.
