Merging Blogs?

Hi there,
I am trying to change the name of my blog (monostash) to that of my name (monostache). However, when I try to change the name in the Dashboard, it tells me that “Sorry, that site is reserved!” It appears that I do have a blog address for monostache.wordpress.com but it has nothing on it. I wanted to know if it was possible to merge the content of my blog http://monostash.wordpress.com/ into the blank original blog, or delete the monostache.wordpress.com web address so that I can change the name of the monostash address.I hope this isn’t too convoluted, but basically, I just want to change the name of my blog, which currently has tons of content and several followers (monostash.wordpress.com) to the name of my user name (monostache.wordpress.com) but the site will not allow me; I’m assuming because my default web address is the same as my user name?

If you have access to both sites, you need to export your content from monostash.wordpress.com using the instructions here:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/export/and then import it into monostache.wordpress.com using the instructions here:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/import/Hope that helps!

I followed your instructions, but it only gave me the option to import into one user (screencap here: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v241/kichara/wordpress-import_zpsc66f5cfd.jpg ) which I did, and all it did was put everything back onto the monostash blog: http://monostash.wordpress.com/ When I attempt to check http://monostache.wordpress.com/ it is still there, but still has no content. I’m not sure what else I can do to make this work. : (

Also, I tried going to monostache.wordpress.com and tried clicking “Add New” to start a fresh post to see if maybe I just needed to make a post on that blog to have it active and then it would allow me to import into it, and got this error page: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v241/kichara/wordpress_zps089be319.jpg

You need to be logged in to the Dashboard of http://monostache.wordpress.com/
before you import the contents to that blog.You can see all the sites under your account at https://wordpress.com/sites/
You need to be logged in to the correct account to be able to see your site.You can also access your Dashboard at:

Something is definitely wrong here, as I am logged in here, but I can also comment on posts using the Monostache name. When you click on the name, it brings you here, http://monostache.wordpress.com/ which again, doesn’t allow me to make any changes.
I attempted to try logging into the account “monostache” but none of my passwords worked, and I did not get any email for a lost password when I requested one. I’m not sure how I am able to comment as the monostache (seen here: http://myswordisunbelievablydull.wordpress.com/2014/10/05/fatestay-night-and-the-power-of-not-knowing-shit/#comment-28041 ), yet seem to be able to edit the blog for it. It’s almost as if the account does not exist, though it is allowing me to comment as that name, even though I am logged in with my username monostash.

The display name is different from the username.
You can set your display name to whatever you like. This is what people see publicly.

It should have been me, as that is the unique name I use for everything. What is confusing is that when you click on the name Monostache in comments, which is a comment I made, being logged in with my account Monostash, it does not go to my blog/user name Monostash, but instead goes to the empty blog Monostache. http://monostash.wordpress.com/2014/10/03/149/#comment-24 This seems to indicate that the accounts are linked, yet I cannot take the name monostache.wordpress.com for my blog, nor does it show up in my managed blogs page.
I guess what’s confusing here is that just by changing my display name, it somehow links to a blog that seems to be mine, even though I have no access to it? If I were to change my display name to something that already exists, like “Inkjot”, when you clicked the display name would it go their blog http://inkjot.wordpress.com/ ?

https://dashboard.wordpress.com/wp-admin/users.php?page=grofiles-editorYou can use whatever display name or website address you like to this and that would be what will appear in the comments.
The display name and the website address here does not have any relation to whether you own the username or the website that you wrote.

If you did create the blog http://monostache.wordpress.com/,
you should be able recover your password through
https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpasswordor through the Account Recovery form:
https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=recoveryIf you didn’t create the blog http://monostache.wordpress.com/, somebody else owns it and you won’t be able to edit it.
