merging two accounts

  It appears that my web developer has created a new wordpress account and I want to merge it with my previous one. the problem is my new website is using this new site and account he created on my behalf.

  Hi @mikedunnaip!

  We don’t merge accounts but I can help you to get the site your web developer created under your account.

  Since I don’t know which site we’re talking about I can just point you to the information you’ll need to complete the process.

  If it’s a custom domain start by transferring the domain to you:

  https://en.support.wordpress.com/transfer-a-domain-to-another-wordpress-com-account/

  Then go through the steps to transfer the site to your WordPress.com account:

  https://en.support.wordpress.com/transferring-a-site-to-another-wordpress-com-account/

  When you’re done transferring those you’ll have that extra WordPress.com account that the web developer created to deal with. They can change the username and email address and keep it for their own use or go through the steps to deactivate it.

  Since we don’€™t want other people to have your username in the future, we don’€™t delete usernames (they are kept so they cannot be recycled). For more information, please see this link below:

  Here’€™s a few suggestions for you if you’d like to scrub the additional account:

  1) Empty and delete your sites:

  First of all, be sure to empty your sites of all content. You can find out more about how to do this here:

  Next, delete the site following the guide on this page:

  Delete a Website

  Please be aware that this is irreversible!

  2) If you are trying to unsubscribe from emails sent to you from WordPress.com, go here and click on “Block Emails”€:

  https://wordpress.com/me/notifications/subscriptions

  3) You can also go here to remove all data except the account name and an email address. Create a throwaway email address and change the account email to that throwaway address. This will only leave the username behind:

  https://wordpress.com/me/account/
  https://wordpress.com/me/profile

  4) To ensure the account is locked up tightly, visit this site, generate a password of 15-20 characters, and change the account password to it:

  http://www.thebitmill.com/tools/password.html
