Merging two accounts, one linked to an inactive email address

  I have two accounts that I want to merge. The first is linked to an inactive email address ((email visible only to moderators and staff)), while the second to an active email address ((email visible only to moderators and staff)). I can still access both but given that the first is linked to an inactive address which I can’t access (my old job) I won’t be able to retrieve the password or receive any email notifications. Help!

  Hey there!

  Here is my suggestion to iron out your situation:

  1. Log into the site with the OLD email address. Update your email address at Users → Personal Settings, under Account Details. Make sure to finalize your address change by clicking the confirmation link in the email you’ll receive at the new address. You won’t be able to use the gmail account you’ve listed here. You’ll need another email address to which you have access.
  2. Transfer the OLD site to your WordPress.com account with the gmail address you’ve listed in your note. Here are the transfer instructions:

  You can’t jump straight to #2 because in order to transfer a site, you need access to the administrative email address for the site you want to transfer. You don’t have that because it currently goes to your old job address. Once that’s changed, you can make the transfer, though!
