Merging two wordpress sites and two email addresses and one domain

    Hi,
    I currently have two WP sites, I think I know how to export and import so I can do that to merge the two sites into one. My problem is that I registered a domain via WordPress to the correct email address but I think from within the wrong site which uses a different email address. In any case, how to I get the domain name associated to the right site?

    Hi there,

    If I can ask, what is the site address you are trying to have all merged content appear on?

    I see you have several sites on your account, but “site addresses” are not transferrable, so there is not a way “move a site address” from one site to another. Instead you will want to be sure that you import all content on to the site that has the address you want already (instead of merging content onto a site that does NOT have the address you want)

    Hi Jerry,
    I have a domain lizhk.ca (although I am not sure how to get it associated with my main site) where I want all my sites to merge under. I’m not worried about the old site addresses. I am trying to create an overarching site with a menu that can take you to some older blogs and back, as well as new pages. Ideas?

    Hi Liz,

    That domain is owned by a different account than the one you’re currently logged in to. If you want to transfer that domain to your current account (@memories2682), then you need to follow these instructions:

    Please note that for this to work you need to be able to access that other account of yours. If you can’t, then you need to follow our Account Recovery guide:

    Thanks . I have another question related to this. I want to make sure I follow the correct order of changes:
    In my old site that owns the domain, I have invited (and accepted) my new site account @memories2682 to be an administrator so that I can then transfer to my domain to the new site.
    My new site (where I want the domain to be transferred to) has@memories2682 as the username. I want to change that username. Should I do that before transferring the domain or does it matter? Does it even matter what the username is?

    Correct, your username does not matter, and has no bearing in the domain transfer process.

    I’d say to keep things as simple as possible it makes sense to handle the domain transfer first, make sure that is correct, and then change the username. (but it is fine if you do not do it in that order)
