merging website

    i am supposed to help someone with their website but they registered with go daddy and have had their website made in dreamweaver. i dont have dreamweaver and was wondering how hard it would be to make a new website on wordpress but use the domain name that has already been purchased and make that one not exist anymore. i saw something about mapping but i dont really understand that. it wont be hard to remake the website my only concern is getting the new site to have the original domain and making the original website go away.
