  Meta tags are not as important as they used to be, because search engines no longer use them to determine rankings. However, you can add a “meta description” to your pages by filling out the excerpt setting.

  Text you add in the excerpt setting on your pages or posts is shown in search results, and also in sharing your site pages on social media. it is the “teaser text” you see below search results, and text added in this area does help search engines to rank your site effectively and also serve to drive traffic off the search result page and on to your site.
