Meta Tags on WordPress?
-
Is there a way to edit the meta tags for your site? Meta tags are search engines’ main tool in finding sites, rather than bland, ordinary tags. Is there a way provided on the wordpress system to edit these meta tags for our site?

You’re reading stuff that is a couple of years outdated.
http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2009/11/09/wordpress-com-makes-search-engine-verification-easy/Important Please note that meta tags are no longer used by Google and have not been used for some time now as they were too easy for webmasters to manipulate and game the algorithm. This has been verified by Matt Cutts of Google. -
“Is there a way to edit the meta tags for your site?” No, we wordpress.com bloggers are all on a multiuser blogging platform. We cannot access the template files underlying our themes and edit them. All using the same theme are in essence using the same underlying template. Only Staff can access and edit because any edit made effects all blogs wearing the same theme. http://en.support.wordpress.com/themes/editing-themes/
raincoaster has already answered you with regard to the fact that meta tags are no longer used by Google. However, I suggest that you create an effective Tagline that does not exceed 160 characters. Also note that in your Google webmaster’s account you can create a sidewiki. http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2009/06/22/creating-an-effective-blog-tagline/
