I made the mistake of signing users (staff) up for WordPress accounts and asking them to click the links when they got activation emails. I have one who didn’t click the link, can’t find the email and is now in purgatory, so to speak.
When he tires to log in with the email and password I set for him, it doesn’t work.
When he tries to recover his password, it says he doesn’t have an account.
When he tries to recover his account with the form, it asks Do you have a transaction ID, activation URL or key, or two factor authentication codes. He doesn’t have any of those.
If I put in a fake auth code, it gives this error:
‘Your contact email is the same as your account – if you can receive emails you should try the password reset form instead.’We already know that does’t work. Is there a way to release his email or resend the account activation link? Thanks!

Have you tried re-inviting the user? You can resend the email again from the site’s Users section under the Invite New menu option (Dashboard>Users> Invite New).
Do let us know if you still have issues.

As a follow up, when he tries to sign up for a new account, it says he already has an account.

I thought you were inviting users. Didn’t you ? You will be able to re-invite. Could you please try to invite them again.

No, I set up accounts – with passwords – for some of my staff. This user is one of them. But he threw away the account activation link.

I tried resetting the password for the email ” mgrigsby at wsls.com ” and It didn’t give me any errors. Here is the screenshot when I tried to submit email id for resetting the password.
Could you please check the email or the user’s phone for an sms code?

This has been resolved by a happiness engineer. :-) They resent me the user’s activation link.
