“Middle ground” Privacy

  • Unknown's avatar

I don’t know if this is possible, but I would like to set my blog so that if someone searches my name, my blog doesn’t come up in the search engine. I would like to do this without setting my blog to completely private, where I have to add specific people for them to be able to read it. So people who know my blog address can go right to it, but someone wouldn’t be able to do a search of my name and find it. Any ideas?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You would have to control all of your friends and acquaintances. The usual way the information gets out is, somebody posts to Facebook or a blog something like “My friend Suzi Smith has a new blog, check it out here, it’s called SuziSecretBlog” or whatever.

Middle ground privacy does not work well, and it does not protect you for very long, simply because of the social nature of the internet.

Well I would like to have perfect control over everything and everyone in my life :) but it doesn’t sound like my blog can be included in that unless I set it to private. Maybe if I could try taking my name off the blog… Thanks for responding

You can try taking your name off and running an ‘anonymous’ blog, but be aware that these things have a way of coming out whether you like it or not.

To achieve what your asking you’ll need
to go to Settings > privacy> Middle option.

Teck, that’s fine… until anyone links to the OP’s blog from a searchable website.
