The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I intend to migrate my blog to the wordpress servers but the limit of the tool import is 15Mb when my site occupies 2Gb. When subscribing to a payment account is the limit increased or is it simply impossible what I want to do?

  • Hi there,

I strongly doubt that you have an .XML export file that is 2GB big, as XML files only contain text.

If you are trying to import your .sql database, that is not possible on WordPress.com. You can only import a .xml export file that you generate under Tools ->Export in the WP-Admin dashboard on a WordPress site. It’s not possible to import .sql, .css or .php files here.

Thanks, I´m worng, the .xml is 20Mb long not 2Gb, sorry I see Server´s backup and I meke mistake.

I try to import xml but I can´t see images, only text, ¿how can I import my photos? Thanks again.

  • Images usually take a bit longer to import. The import file only contains links to the images, not the images themselves. So we fetch the images after the import completes.

What is the URL of the site you’re importing from? Is that site still online and at the same domain as it was when you created the export file?

And can you please give me a link to a post where the image did not import correctly?

Ok I understood, then the problem is my server is offline and the photos can´t see, I´m looking for a fast solution but I´ll must to waiting for my bad provider…

    Thank you very much!

  • If your site was offline the images would not have imported. You can try importing the file again once your old site is back online. That should pull in the images without duplicating your posts.

If that does not work, please provide the links I asked for above, and I can ask a developer to try and do it manually. But the old site will need to be online for us to try that as well, and it does not always work.
