Migrate

How do I migrate my existing Word Press site over to my Go Daddy Word Press hosting account? I have tried to do the auto-migration feature but it says Word Press has limitations and I need to contact them. Please direct me where I need to go with this.

Hi There,
We have a guide on how to move your site from WordPress.com to another host here:
Hope this helps!!

So, it actually doesn’t. The problem I am having is that the username and password work when I am logging into my WordPress account on wordpress.com but when I enter it in on my host site to migrate it over, it keeps saying it is failing. I don’t know how to get it to work. I asked the host company and they didn’t know how to help me either. They suggested maybe making a new user as an administrator but I can’t seem to figure out how to even do that. I don’t understand why it won’t allow me to migrate my site over.

Hi @bluebarninspireddesigns
I think it will help if I clarify that we’re not connected to GoDaddy directly. They use the open-source variant of the WordPress platform which functions differently than what we offer here on WordPress.com.
Specifically we have a custom login process (for enhanced security) on WordPress.com, and because of this your WordPress site on GoDaddy uses it’s own username and password system and does not share login credentials with your account here on our service.
I believe when they suggested creating a new administrator, they were referring specifically to your WordPress site on GoDaddy, and nothing to do with creating a new account on WordPress.com. Admittedly I’m not sure what they are suggesting, so I can see why you might be confued.
As I understand it, typically the username/password of your WordPress site on GoDaddy is set during the site setup process itself. If you do not recall what was used and the site is just a new one that is totally empty, it may be fastest to get GoDaddy to help you in setting up a new site (and deleting the one you set up with them currently) so you can take note of the username and password at the time the site is created.
Once you gain access to the empty WordPress site on GoDaddy, you can follow the steps that @malhotradivya15 correctly pointed out for exporting your WordPress.com content, and importing it to your self-hosted WordPress site on GoDaddy.
Sorry to see you go, but I wish you the best of luck with your site!
