Migrate Current WordPress Blog to a New WP Blog

    I would like to migrate my current WP blog to an entirely new WP blog without having to pay $4.00 per month to get a migration/clone plug-in. Is this possible? The old WP blog was hosted by a college that has gone defunct.

    Hi there, do you still have access to the old blog, or do you have an export file from it that you downloaded?

    If the site is still up and running, you can export the content from that site and then import it into your site here, and there wouldn’t be a need to pay for any upgrade to do that as explained here.

    Do you have a domain name that you registered on that other blog? If so, and if you wanted to have your blog here under that domain name, then that would require one of the WordPress.com Plans.

    At the very least, your content can be moved over here so that you do not lose it if they shut down the servers.
