Migrate existing site onto WordPress

    Hi there. I am a parent volunteer at a school with a small amount of experience using WordPress – The school would like to migrate their existing site onto WordPress and keep their current URL. Is this possible? What would I need to do to make this happen?

    I don’t have a site with WordPress.com yet

    Yes! There are ways to import several types of sites. Can you send a link to the existing site so we can recommend a method? There are several listed at the bottom of this article:
    https://wordpress.com/support/import/

    Also, you can set up a new site here with a temp address while keeping the existing site going. That way you can just update the address to point to the new site when you’re ready.

    Hi there,

    I have visited your site and it does not seem to be using WordPress currently, but is built on a different platform. Do you happen to know what platform is in use on that site.

    We’re happy to take a look and see if any import options exist that will allow you to migrate your existing content, but if not then sadly the move would need to be a manual one. E.g. Copying and pasting text/images from that site and into a WordPress.com site.
