Migrate Existing Website Files

Previously may wife had a WordPress account which expired. My wife’s website is hosted on another server, as before, when she had a earlier WordPress account. Her website had not been updated for sometime. So when she finally went back to WordPress to update her site, the original website had been deleted. She has a backup of her website from the current domain and server which continues to operate. So she created a new WordPress account and now wants to migrate her existing website files to the new WordPress account so she can update. She wants her current domain name (not transfer or change) to connect or direct to WordPress (to take advantage of it’s features). I can login to her account, but when I follow the instructions, I am directed to to the dashboard to ‘+ Add a domain’. But am not seeing the ‘dashboard’ or command menu allowing me to add the domain to her new WordPress account. WordPress is directing me to create a new website when I login, and all we are trying to do is upload her current website, so it can be updated. Probably missing a simple step, please advise, thanks.

Hi there, just to check – is the new website being hosted with us on WordPress.com? Or is it using the WordPress software (which originates from WordPress.org) with a different host?
Would you be able to share the address(es) so that we can try to point you in the right direction?
