Migrate from Self-Hosted to WordPress Hosted Site
-
Dear Support,
Our blog (https://domain-name.com/blog ) is currently self-hosted and we want to migrate it to the WordPress hosting due to performance issues we’re facing with HostGator.
However we still want our page to load on the same exact link https://domainname/blog/ as we have years worth of SEO work at this structure.
Please note that our current home page http://www.domain-name.com is not wordpress based, the wordpress is located in /blog/ folder of the web directory.
We need help to understand how we can make this work, we need your help to make sure we achieve this smoothly with minimal downtime.
We want to do this migration without losing the current URL structure, ‘WE DO NOT want to become blog.domain-name.com we want to keep it domain-name.com/blog ‘.
Your help is highly appreciated.
thank you

Hi there,
At WordPress.com, the address of a site has to be a domain or a subdomain. We could add /blog to the address bar but the domain would need to point to WordPress.com. Unfortunately, we do not support a structure such as https://domainname/blog/ as you currently have it set up.

What happens to the previous links that are showing up on google results, any work around that to avoid having to re-do SEO again for all the new links ? is there some way around this ?
-
additionally Can we use wordpress hosting for both none wordpress files along with wordpress.
e.g :
–> / website (none wordpress php and html files)
—->/blog (this is where the wordpress will be located)Is this possible ?

Do you have a specific example that you can share with me here?
Anything attached at the domain level should just move over and continue working once the domain is connected to us.
