Migrate from self hosted WP to WP.com

Hi, I’d like to migrate from self hosted wordpress site to wordpress.com (managed hosting) for my domain – Web News Observer

Can someone please help me with this?

    Thanks

  • Hello @webnewsobserver,

There are two methods of migrating your self-hosted WordPress site to WordPress.com hosting.

Option 1 migrates everything – All your site’s content, themes, plugins, users, and settings. You need a business plan or higher on WordPress.com to do this.
Option 2 migrates content only – Import posts, pages, comments, and media only.

Depending on the type of migration you want, there is a step-by-step guide to help you on how to go about this.

If you have a paid plan and would prefer a Happiness Engineer does this for you, please use the “Contact Support” form. Live chat support is also included with the paid plans and can be accessible on that page as well.

    I hope this helps.

We don’t do site migrations for users via live chat support, so please don’t offer that.

The support we provide via email and live chat is the same as what we provide here in the forums – we provide advice and teach people how our tools work so they can make the changes they want to their sites, but we don’t make those changes for them. We try to empower site owners to be able to manage their own sites, so they don’t need to rely on support every time they want to make a change to their site :)

  • @kokkieh,

Well noted and thanks for the clarification.
