Migrate Jetpack
-
I’ve recently (today) moved my legacy site from one domain (https://eamann.com) to another (http://ttmm.io). I’ve taken the time to ensure that URLs properly redirect with a 301 status from the old to the new permalink. Further, I’ve set each site up to track separately on Google Analytics.
However, Jetpack is showing both sites as _the same_ site in stats. Is there a way to make sure Jetpack sees both sites as independent? To clarify, legacy traffic from https://eamann.com should now be moved over to http://ttmm.io, and the _current_ https://eamann.com should be treated as a new site.
Is this possible? What do I need to do on my end to set this up?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Eric,
I checked out the two sites you mentioned (ttmm.io and eamann.com). It looks like the stats pages for those two sites are different. Here’s what I’m seeing:
ttmm.io
https://wordpress.com/my-stats/?unit=1&blog=61905198
eamann.com
https://wordpress.com/my-stats/?unit=1&blog=11056847
To clarify, the stats currently listed on that second URL (Blog ID: 11056847) should be moved to Blog ID 61905198. The stats page for eamann.com should be reset to reflect a new site. Is that correct?
-
Yes, that’s correct.
The issue is, the Jetpack stats preview inside the WordPress dashboard is showing stats from the old eamann.com on both domains.
To clarify:
old eamann.com => ttmm.io
current eamann.com => new site -
Hey Eric,
Thanks for clarifying. For some reason, both domains (eamann.com and ttmm.io) are associated with the same Jetpack blog ID, which is why you’re seeing the same stats on both dashboards. We’ll need to get this worked out before working with the blog stats. Did you by chance copy the database for eamann.com when you created ttmm.io?
-
I did, actually. I was migrating the content from one installation to another and used a quick DB migration tool to just move things over. Then I went through and modified my existing eamann.com installation to reflect the new site.
What’s the process for resetting the blog ID?
-
Hi Eric,
We should be able to generate a new blog ID for Jetpack by following these steps:
1. Disconnect ttmm.io from Jetpack. This can be done under Jetpack -> Jetpack and then selecting “Disconnect from WordPress.com” in the footer section of the page.
2. Let me know once you do that. I will make some changes on our side.
3. We’ll have you reconnect ttmm.io. The changes in step #2 should cause this to regenerate a new blog ID for that site when you reconnect.
4. Then, we can transfer the stats from the ID currently paired with eamann.com so they’re moved to ttmm.io and eamann.com is back at 0 for you to use with a new site.
Can you let me know once you disconnect ttmm.io?

Hi Eric,
We need to add one more step into the process. Here are the updated steps:
1. Disconnect ttmm.io from Jetpack. This can be done under Jetpack -> Jetpack and then selecting “Disconnect from WordPress.com” in the footer section of the page.
2. Rename the
jetpack_optionsrow in your database for ttmm.io to something likejetpack_options_OLD3. Let me know once you do that. I will make some changes on our side.
4. We’ll have you reconnect ttmm.io. The changes in steps #1 & #2 should cause this to regenerate a new blog ID for that site when you reconnect.
5. Then, we can transfer the stats from the ID currently paired with eamann.com so they’re moved to ttmm.io and eamann.com is back at 0 for you to use with a new site.
-
OK, ttmm.io is disconnected and I’ve renamed the option in the DB.
Let me know when I’m good to reconnect the site.

Perfect – I’ve merged the stats over to the new blog ID created for ttmm.io so you should see the previous eamann.com stats there.
Next, we need to zero out eamann.com. We’re going to do the same thing that we did with ttmm.io. It looks like eamann.com is already disconnected from Jetpack. Can you rename the Jetpack options row to
jetpack_options_old? Let me know once you do that. I’ll work some magic on our side, and then, we’ll reconnect. Thanks so much for working through the multitude of steps with me!

Excellent – last step: Reconnect eamann.com to Jetpack. When you do that, you should see the stats on that site at 0.
