Migrate large amount of data to Business plan

    Hi,
I have a self-hosted WordPress site. Its content is about 90GB large and I want to ask the following question:

    1. Can I migrate my site to WordPress Business plan?

    2. Is there a easier way to migrate the site to WordPress? Export 90GB data from web panel is almost impossible.

    Thank you.

Hi, I’ll make a suggestion here, I think the way to go is to purchase your WordPress.COM business plan and get all the particulars sorted, then from there you will have access to dedicated support who can help you through the migration process via email and live chat.

Bear in mind that 90Gig is 90Gig, if you can clean out any of that you no longer need, that will make things quicker, perhaps ask over at the WordPress.ORG’s support forum where they can suggest the best way to slim down your export file size.

Let us know if we can help with any of this before you are up and running with the business plan!

Thank for the answer. But it’s really hard to imagine that WordPress.com doesn’t have pre-sale email but asking customer to “buy first then we can give you advice”.

Hi there, the max import of each XML file is currently around 15GB, so @acesabe’s gave you great advice in trimming down your export file by deleting any spam comments and feedback, unapproved comments and trash folders. Here’s a general information guide on moving your site to WordPressdotcom https://transferto.wordpress.com/

We do have a FAQ on the Business plan upgrade, which you can find here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/business-plan/

If you have any other specific questions after reading the FAQ, please post them here. I’ve gone ahead and tagged this thread for Staff input. Thanks for your patience while they get back to you.

    Thanks @justjennifer .

All posts and comments are less than 1GB. But my site has lots of image files and can take up to 8xG. I assume they can be migrated too, right?

In order to transfer attached media files, your existing site needs to be online and accessible. (Emphasis here on “attached” and online. If you have “unattached” files that are needed, you’ll want to attach them to even a private page before creating your export file.)

Before you get too far along, and in case you haven’t yet done so, I suggest you again read the WordPressdotcom Terms of Service, and the support guides I linked to earlier, to make sure that WordPressdotcom is a good fit for your needs. This support guide to the differences between ORG and COM is also helpful: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
