Migrate local WordPress site to WordPress Premium

    Hi!

I would like to migrate the following data from my local WordPress site to the wordpress.com premium blog I have created:

    – Site Statistics (if possible!)
    – Followers
    – Images (now linked to my local blog URL)

And what happened to Plugins? I was looking for the JetPack plugin but maybe it’s embedded here :-)

    Thanks alot!

    René

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Oh, one additional question:

In my local site, I configured images to ‘pop up’ instead of opening in the same window, full screen. Is it possible to configure that here as well?

    Thanks :-)

    – Site Statistics (if possible!) Not possible
    – Followers Not Possible
    – Images (now linked to my local blog URL) You have to include them in the export file.

Do you mean the images are not in your posts at all, or that you have thumbnails linked to full size files, or that opening a post brings up a post window containing text and separate windows for each image?

When you say “local” exactly what is that, usually that is on a desktop PC of some sort for development

JetPack and more are embedded here –

If you are using JetPack and are hosting on say Blue Host and you have the jetPack Stats active to an account here than the stats should move, along with probably all of your followers (I don’t know the details of how JetPack works – so the “probably all”

Images will come as long as they are part of posts and pages and your old site can be reached with the internet

No “Pop-Up” – you can Open in another window if you want – no script or iframe here for security reasons

What is the URL of the blog you want to move & the blog here you want to move the content to?

@RC – I thought that jetPack was a two way street for stats & subscribers, followers or some version of that as long as they were hosted on a host like Blue Host etc.?

    Did I goof?

As far as I am aware it only works in the outgoing way, not the incoming way, and then only with staff intervention.

Hi all, I want to clarify that we can move subscribers from a self-hosted WordPress.org site using Jetpack to a WordPress.com site. In some cases, we can also transfer the stats.

René, I transferred your followers and your stats to your WordPress.com blog, as requested. I checked the images and it looks like they are linked to your WordPress.com blog correctly, but please send me a link to any of your posts or pages where the images are incorrectly linked to your old site.

If you have any questions about this, please let me know! :)

    Thanks for the clarification

    Hi Rachel,

    Thanks a lot! You’re the best :-)
Today I replaced the images that were linked to my wordpress.org blog with fresh copies in the wordpress.com version.

All is OK now! Already informed my hoster to change the NS records.

    Thanks again!
    René
