    Hi there!
I think it’s great that you are considering using WordPress to host your business.

I want to migrate to wordpress

Excellent guide sto what is involved with moving your site to WordPress is: https://en.support.wordpress.com/coming-from-self-hosted/
    and
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-from-self-hosted-wordpress-to-wordpress-com/

Do not be intimidated by all the instructions, all you have to do is follow them step by step, and there is help available when you need it.

I am not sure what you meant by “Silverlight”, could you be a little more specific who your hosting company is, and what platform your current ecommerce site is using?

    keep my domain name

That is easy. You can have your domain provider map your domain to WordPress. At this time, WordPress does not accept incoming domain transfers.

    add the ecommerce

A great e-commerce utility that integrates with WordPress is WooCommerce. There are also ecommerce plugins available through WordPress as well as outside vendors.

understand I may have to buy the business plan

Yes, you will in order to integrate ecommerce into your site.

The alternative is to move to a different hosting company who would allow you to install the WordPress software and build your site there. This is known as “Self-Hosting”. You can see many of the differences between WordPress.Com hosting and Self-Hosting in this document:

    Hope thiis helps!
