Migrate site hosted by WP to GoDaddy

On my GoDaddy account, I am trying to migrate my WP site, but I get the error ‘Your site is hosted on wordpress.com.’ and the note ‘ites hosted by WordPress.com cannot be migrated due to limitations in their hosting, you’ll need to contact their support for help.’ So what do I do now?

Many thanks for that confirmation.
To migrate a site from WordPress.com to GoDaddy, the site would need to be on the business plan.
You able to migrate the content however, but exporting the content (https://en.support.wordpress.com/export/) and then by importing it via wp-admin > Tools > import at the GoDaddy installation.

Note too that a site address ending in .wordpress.com only works here at WordPress.com. You’d need a different domain address at GoDaddy and then you could export the content only of your site that resides here (that is if you have actually created any content posts/pages/images for that site).

Many thanks. We have a new domain name(s) already registered on GoDaddy. We created a basic 3 page site here and hope to be able to move it to GoDaddy, even though we never published it.

It might be quicker to recreate three pages at your new GoDaddy site. An .xml export file should work but if you have images on your WordPress.com site they probably won’t transfer if the site is still set to private.

Thanks, I do have images on the unpublished WP site. Plus I like one of the templates in the GODaddy version better than the one I originally used, so I will probably just start from scratch. I don’t want to try and upload an .xml file and have a mess to fix – it would be almost like starting over anyway Thanks for all the suggestions.
