Migrate site is asking to migrate the exact same site?

Hi! This has happened twice to me now where on the Jetpack dashboard it says that it is in safe mode because my site (thriveyouth.com.au) is an exact duplicate of another site (thriveyouth.com.au). These are obviously the same URL but Jetpack thinks they’re different? Everytime I always click ‘migrate stats and subscribers to this new site’. And it says ‘move thriveyouth.com.au to thriveyouth.com.au’ and I’m like – that’s the same site!?!?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

No that is a different issue. My site has not migrated servers at all but yet Jetpack was still asking to migrate. The issue in the forum you linked was when he actually migrated servers. Mine has remained on the same server yet

  • Hi there,

my site (thriveyouth.com.au) is an exact duplicate of another site (thriveyouth.com.au). These are obviously the same URL but Jetpack thinks they’re different?

If it’s two sites that are duplicates of each other, it’s of course different sites. The fact that a site is a duplicate of another does not change the fact that it’s a separate site. And if you connect that duplicate site to Jetpack as well, Jetpack will see is as a new, separate site from the one that was connected first.

But it’s not possible to have two sites at the same URL, so it sounds like you have something configured weirdly on your hosting provider’s end. I also don’t see two instances of that domain connected to your WordPress.com account, so it doesn’t look as if the second site is actually connected to Jetpack.

I can see thriveyouth.com.au connected as of four days ago, and then I can see a site at the IP 13.210.174.213 which was connected four months ago. If that’s the original connection it means you connected that site before you had a domain added at your hosting provider. However, I don’t see any data for that site, neither followers not stats, that can be migrated.

If that’s not the original connection, then it means you haven’t yet connected the duplicate site to your WordPress.com account via Jetpack. In that case, please make than connection, and then let me know so I can take a look.

    Hi, thanks for the reply.

I have switched some settings around with my hosting provider and this seems to have resolved the issue :D

  • Excellent! Thanks for letting me know :D
