Migrating a Site To the "Personal Plan"
-
Hi all – first time using this forum from an author standpoint.
I have a site built on a free wordpress theme, but it’s currently only being hosted/supported on my office’s server. We want to take it online with a paid version of WordPress. All domain stuff aside, does anyone know if I will bump into issues using any of the particular ‘Plans’ to do this? Or should it be, as I thought, a seamless migration considering the site lives on a wordpress theme?

WordPress.ORG themes themes cannot be transferred to WordPress.COM sites. The same is also true in reverse. The software is not exactly the same. WordPress.COM is a multi user blogging platform. The only themes that can be used on wordpress.COM hosted sites are found here https://wordpress.com/themes/
WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
